Manama, Under the patronage of the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BNA), Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, several new departments have been opened today at the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH), marking the BDF’s 52nd Anniversary.
The commander-in-chief deputised Defence Affairs Minister, Lieutenant-General Abdulla bin Hassan Al-Nuaimi, to attend the opening ceremony, in the presence of Health Minister, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh.
The minister unveiled the plaque, thus officially opening the new sections, including the Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (PET-MRI) department and the Intensive Care Unit, in addition to the Smart Pharmacy with are equipped with the latest and most advanced diagnostic and treatment devices.
Al-Nuaimi also inaugurated the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and was informed about the Solar Energy Project which will provide clean energy to the KHUH.
The minister then visited the Bahrain Oncology Centre, where he opened a Cancer Research Centre, and a pediatric ward.
The defence affairs minister lauded the efforts being exerted through the opening of specialised medical departments at the KHUH, lauding the advanced level reached by the KHUH thanks to the unwavering support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, and the directives of the BDF Commander-in-Chief to enhance the BDF’s medical systems and provide the latest medical equipment.
Thanks to this, he said, the KHUH is delivering integrated health and treatment services.
After that, the minister watched a short film about the newly-opened KHUH’s departments.
The KHUH Commander, Major-General Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Atiyatallah Al Khalifa, presented the minister with a commemorative gift.
