2nd Forum on Strategic Direction of Qatar’s Developmental, Humanitarian Sectors Launches

Doha: The second forum on completing the strategic direction of the developmental and humanitarian sector in the upcoming period in the State of Qatar has kicked off. The forum, organized by the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) in collaboration with Qatar University’s Community Service and Continuing Education Center, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Planning Council, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The forum’s activities continue with its training workshops and discussions at the auditorium of Qatar University’s library over three days. 30 officials from strategic planning, quality, and project management in charitable associations and humanitarian organizations in Qatar, along with members of the Community Service and Continuing Education Center and the head of the International Cooperation Department at the Qatari Red Crescent, are participating.

Al Nuaimi said that the strategic forum is the first outcome of launching Qatar’s first charitable work strategy. He noted that the strategy is being launched nationwide in Qatar’s charitable sector.

Al Nuaimi added that they will work with partners to lay the foundations for strategic institutional reading of humanitarian and developmental charitable work in Qatar, discuss updates in international cooperation in the field of charitable and humanitarian development work, and manage the strategic performance of humanitarian initiatives in complex environments. He expressed hope that the outcomes of this forum would be fruitful, enhancing the path of charitable, humanitarian, and developmental work in Qatar and contributing to its prosperity regionally and globally.

For his part, On his part, Hassan Al Habbabi, who is the director of human resources and administrative affairs at the Qatari Red Crescent, said that the strategy of efficiency in charitable and humanitarian work in Qatar highlights our vision tow
ards a professional and independent charitable sector, representing an important aspect of national development resources and a strong supporting pillar for Qatar’s international status. He explained that this strategy is the result of continuous efforts and collaboration between many national and international entities, reflecting Qatar’s national vision 2030.

Al Habbabi added that this strategy aims to achieve sustainable development and enhance Qatar’s position as an advanced state ensuring decent living for all its people, generation after generation. He pointed out that this strategy represents a strong commitment to achieving a positive and tangible impact on individuals’ and communities’ lives, not only within Qatar but globally as well.

Najla Al Khulaifi, who is the head of the planning and social development department at the National Planning Council, spoke about Qatar Vision 2030 and successive national strategies, the latest being the Third National Strategy 2024-2030. She said that this strateg
y is based on seven national strategic outcomes: sustainable economic growth, financial sustainability, a future-ready workforce, a cohesive society, high-quality life, environmental sustainability, and distinguished governmental institutions. She added that this strategy provides opportunities for all stakeholders to participate in Qatar’s development, indicating that the Qatar Charitable and Humanitarian Sector Strategy 2023-2030 intersects with all these pillars and strategies.

The forum aims to raise awareness, enhance capacities, and readiness among charitable, humanitarian, and developmental organizations to meet the requirements of activating the charitable work strategy in Qatar and enabling non-profit organizations in Qatar to achieve institutional excellence. The forum will organize 5 workshops featuring 12 papers, with the participation of 30 entities from the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities, Qatar Red Crescent, Qatar Charity, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations Deve
lopment Programme, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, the National Planning Council, in addition to several private charitable associations and institutions.

The research papers presented at the forum will discuss the strategies of charitable, humanitarian, and developmental work in Qatar, updates in international cooperation in these fields. They will also discuss the strategic management of humanitarian initiatives in complex environments, Qatar’s strategic perspective in responding to global humanitarian crises and disasters, as well as building capacities of third sector organizations in Qatar and ways to develop annual output plans.
