Manama, Under the patronage of the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, a ceremony was held here today to honour the BDF’s military teams that had attained world achievements and clinched medals at the 7th World Military Games, held recently in Wuhan, China.
National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, Major-General HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Commander of the Royal Guard’s Special Force, Lieutenant-Colonel HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attended the ceremony, held at the BDF’s Military Sports Club.
Upon arrival, the BDF Commander-in-Chief was welcomed by the Defence Affairs Minister, Lieutenant-General Abdulla bin Hassan Al-Nuaimi, Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Dheyab bin Saqr Al-Nuaimi, and a number of senior BDF officers.
The BDF Commander-in-Chief’s anthem was played, and then the military athletes who had participated in the 7th World Military Game arrived at the ceremony site.
Then, the Commander-in-Chief, the National Security Advisor and Royal Guard’s Special Force crowned the athletes who shined at the 7th World Military Games.
The Commander-in-Chief also granted the champions the Medallions of Distinction. They were received by the Director of the Military Sports Association, Brigadier-General Mohammed Abdullatif bin Jalal, on behalf of the athletes.
The BDF Commander-in-Chief stressed that the constant care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, for military sports and athletes, has contributed to achieving multiple accomplishments and championships at all levels, lauding the BDF’s military football squad’s winning the gold medal after beating Qatar in the final 3-1.
The Commander-in-Chief hailed the efforts exerted by the members of the administrative and technical staff during the 7th World Military Games, stressing that the BDF will spare no effort in order to all military sports and athletes so as to continue achieving top positions at various sports gatherings.
He also expressed pride in the distinguished results achieved by the BDF’s athletics team during the 7th World Military Games, citing their success in claiming nine gold medals, one silver medal and seven silver medals.
In the end of the ceremony, the Director of the Military Sport Association presented the BDF Commander-in-Chief, the National Security Advisor and Royal Guard’s Special Force with commemorative gifts on the occasion.
The ceremony also featured a Bahrain Ardha show (Traditional dancing) in cerebration of the military sport achievements.
