Eurozone unemployment falls to 10.7 per cent in October

Luxembourg, Safar 19, 1437, December 01, 2015, SPA — Unemployment in the eurozone fell to a
better-than-expected 10.7 per cent in October, but the rate increased
among those aged under 25, new data showed Thursday, as the currency
bloc tries to curb its high levels of joblessness, dpa reported.

October’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained the lowest
since January 2012, according to EU statistics agency Eurostat. The
jobless numbers have only been falling incrementally since hitting a
record 12.1 per cent in 2013.

Analysts had expected the jobless ranks to remain constant at 10.8
per cent.

The number of unemployed people in the 19-country bloc decreased by
13,000 over the last month, reaching a total of 17.24 million.
