GCC Condemns Burning Copy of the Holy Quran in Denmark

The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) condemned burning a copy of the Holy Quran in Copenhagen, Denmark.

GCC Secretary-General Jassem Mohamed Al Budaiwi considered the heinous incident to be an act of incitement that would inflame the feelings of Muslims around the world and provoke them, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. He reiterated, in a statement, the firm position of the GCC calling for spreading the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, respecting symbols and sanctities, and rejecting bigotry and extremism.

In the statement, the Secretary-General called on the international community and the governments of the concerned countries to assume their responsibilities, intervene and move quickly to stop such repeated and unacceptable abuses of the symbols of Islam and Muslims.
