His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has prayed to Allah Almighty to have mercy upon the martyrs of the nation and to rest their souls in eternal peace.
Sheikh Mohamed said his payer while participating in the observance of a minute of silence, to mark Commemoration Day (Martyrs’ Day) in recognition of the sacrifice of the martyrs. Sheikh Mohamed was accompanied by Emirati citizens and expatriate residents.
Sheikh Mohamed also prayed to Allah Almighty to preserve the UAE and wished it permanent pride, security and stability, as well as to protect the country and continue its blessed march, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“All of us today, across the nation, stand with pride, as we honour our heroic martyrs. Our hearts beat with them and with their sacrifices and selfless acts. They will never leave us, but will be ingrained in our memories, and in every house, and every area of our good land,” Sheikh Mohamed said.
“As we stand here, we feel proud of the sacrifices of our heroic martyrs. We recall their heroic deeds, which represent a role model and value for the coming generation, to stimulate them and preserve the legacy of the martyrs, and continue and follow their march,” he added.
Among those who attended the event were H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; H.H. Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Rulers Representative; H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; H.H. Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs, ZHO; Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and several top commanders of the UAE Armed Forces, along with representatives from the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Interior, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The audience stood in silence for one minute at 11:30 am. They also prayed for the martyrs, raised the UAE flag, and the national anthem was played to express their appreciation for the martyrs, as well as solidarity with their families.
