General

Dammam, The King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, represented by the Saudi Global Ports (SGP), the operator of the port’s container terminals, has recently received three new Quayside Cranes (QC) with automated capabilities, and three new Rubber-Tired Gantry Cranes (RTG). This addition brings the total number of quayside cranes to 18 and gantry cranes to 50, contributing to the development of the port’s infrastructure and enabling it to handle large ships efficiently.

The new cranes have a minimum outreach of 25 rows, allowing the port to handle advanced and large ships at full productivity and high efficiency. They will also support the development of workforce skills through the use of modern cranes, which is in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics hub and a link between the three continents.

This initiative is part of joint efforts to enhance King Abdulaziz Port’s pivotal position in Dammam, making it competitive and sust
ainable on a global scale. This is in line with commercial contracts concluded between the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) and the Saudi Global Ports (SGP), with an investment value of SAR7 billion.
