The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) has launched its second pavilion with the “right and duty” campaign in the shopping malls to educate citizens about their right and duty to choose their representatives in the Central Municipal Council elections, which will be held during June.
In this context, Director of NHRC Administrative and Financial Affairs Department, Hamad Majid Al Marzouqi said that the campaign comes within the efforts made by the NHRC within the framework of the awareness and educational track on the importance of casting all citizens registered in the voter lists as an inherent right of their basic rights to participate in this electoral entitlement.
He pointed out that the NHRC aims, through this campaign, for the largest number of citizens to exercise their constitutional right and democratic entitlement in an electoral process that achieves a further advancement of national responsibility among the voters and the elected, considering that the higher the ceiling of interaction through registration and voting, the more realistic the counting results will be and expresses the real popular will to choose who represents them.
