Public Security Chief opens training workshop

A Training workshop highlighting the United Nations Convention against Corruption has been given the go-ahead.

Public Security Chief Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al Hassan opened the workshop at the Royal Academy of Police (RAP) headquarters.

The workshop also focuses on the recommendations received by the Kingdom of Bahrain as a result of the Implementation Review Mechanism in its first and second sessions.

The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security is organizing the scheme along with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Lt.Gen. Al Hassan said that the training workshop followed directives from the Minister of Interior General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, hailing Bahrain’s achievements in the field of combating corruption in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and local and international partners.

“The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved strides in combating corruption, which contributed to strengthening its standing among countries”, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan said.

Anti-Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security Director-General Brigadier Bassam Mohammed Al Maraj noted Bahrain’s strides in keeping up with challenges and dangers that negatively affect the economy.

He highlighted the establishment of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security within an integrated system to address all financial and electronic crimes and corruption crimes

He stressed the importance of enhancing the efficiency of law enforcement agencies to combat the scourge of corruption and promote integrity at the local and international levels through cooperation with all concerned parties.

He noted international cooperation to optimize the implementation of international requirements dictated by conventions concerned with promoting integrity and combating corruption, especially the United Nations Convention United Nations Anti-Corruption Council, which has become the international best practice instrument for promoting integrity.

The three-day workshop sheds light on the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the review mechanism and cooperation frameworks between all relevant institutions.
