Saudi Water Forum: Saudi Arabia Saves More than Eight Million Cubic Meters with Urban Water Conservation

Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture highlighted Saudi Arabia’s successful experience in water conservation in the urban sector, contributing to water sustainability.

Through the management of the National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center (MAEE), this conservation effort has resulted in water savings surpassing 8 million cubic meters, the ministry said.

The discussions took place during a session titled “Enhancing Water Resources Sustainability in the KSA” which was part of the second day’s events at the Saudi Water Forum held in Riyadh. The session was moderated by Mansour Alhumimidi, Adviser to the Saudi Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.

In a working paper presented by Turki Al-Garni, Director-General of Technical Affairs at MAEE, the ministry emphasized the centre’s success in enhancing Saudi Arabia’s experience in water conservation within the urban sector.

This achievement was made possible through various pioneering initiatives and technological applicati
ons, including the “Kashf” application, which aims to improve user experience and enhance service quality.

According to the working paper, the “Kashf” application has resulted in cumulative water savings exceeding 8 million cubic meters, benefiting over 13,000 users.

The session highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts to conserve water usage in the urban sector, focusing on achieving water sustainability and reusing water for cooling purposes in Saudi Aramco cooling towers.

Additionally, discussions revolved around maximizing the utilization of treated water in Saudi Arabia, aligning with the standards, principles, and objectives of Vision 2030.

The Saudi Water Forum is a prestigious platform that brings together leaders, experts, developers, investors, researchers in the water sector, and relevant government entities.

Its purpose is to showcase experiences and strategies in response to regional and international water trends. The forum aims to foster comprehensive and integrated solutions for the challenges f
acing the water sector in the region and the world.
