The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the closure of a car maintenance centre in Umm Salal for the period of onemonth, due to violation of Article No. (7) of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding Consumer Protection, as the said centre repackaged used oils to appear as new ones.
This measure comes as part of the intensive inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry to monitor markets and commercial activities in the country, in order to control prices and uncover abuses and fraudulent, counterfeit, and non-conforming goods.
In this regard, the Ministry stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its executive bylaws.
The Ministry is working to intensify its inspection campaigns to control violating practices, and to refer violators of laws and Ministerial decisions to the competent authorities to take the needed due measures.
