12th Conference of Advisory Board on Law of the Sea Concludes in Doha

Doha: The 12th Conference of the Advisory Board on the Law of the Sea (ABLOS) of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) concluded in Doha on Wednesday, bringing together a select group of judges, experts, and specialists in the field of the law of the sea.

According to Qatar News Agency, in his closing remarks, HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, who is also Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Convention on the Law of the Sea, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to all participants and speakers for their valuable contributions. He commended the efforts of the ABLOS in organizing the conference and ensuring its success.

His Excellency emphasized that the conference reaffirmed the notion that the seas represent a common space uniting humanity, necessitating continued international cooperation grounded in justice and respect for international law. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing maritime governance, sustainable use of marine resources, and addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, and marine biodiversity.

Furthermore, His Excellency reiterated Qatar's commitment to fostering international dialogue and cooperation to promote the rule of law at sea, supporting efforts to achieve peace and sustainable development in the world's oceans.
