KUWAIT, Safar 24, 1437, December 06, 2015, SPA — Arab youth and sports ministers on Saturday called on international sports institutions to backpedal on their decision to suspend Kuwaiti sports activities, and to allow Kuwaiti athletes to partake in world sports events “under the flag of their country”.
The ministers voiced, in a joint statement issued following the 59th session of their Executive Office, their full solidarity with the State of Kuwait in this regard, and appreciated its efforts to support its sports activities and overhaul sports laws.
They lauded Kuwait’s relentless respect of international regulations, and effective contributions to supporting regional, Arab and international sports, hoping that international sports organizations would drop their decision to suspend Kuwaiti sports activities. However, they pointed to their keenness on the respect of international regulations, mainly the Olympic Charter, while stressing the sovereign role of States and independence sports bodies.
