A Workshop on Assessing the Green Growth Potentials in the State of Qatar

Today (Tuesday), the Ministry of Municipality and Environment represented by the Department of Climate Change in collaboration with the Global Green Growth Institute organized a technical workshop on assessing the green growth potentials in the State of Qatar. The workshop aims at supporting economic growth and development, maintaining the continuity of the natural resources and guaranteeing their sustainability.

Mr. Abdul Hadi Nasser Al-Mirri, Director of the Department of Climate Change, experts from the Global Green Growth Institute, several participant national organizations and some of the Ministry’s employees took part in the opening ceremony of the workshop.

Mr. Abdul Hadi Nasser Al-Mirri, Director of the Department of Climate Change, said that the workshop aims at investigating the opportunities of developing the national contributions of the State of Qatar within the framework of Paris Convention. The State of Qatar has been one of the first countries to sign it, and it has developed its plan during the Conference held on 2015. He added that the workshop is cooperating with the Institute in order to develop this plan and figure out the contributions on the national level. In addition, we are working towards identifying an approach to verify the effectiveness of these systems and actions plans through Measurement, Reporting and Verification.
