From 1st to 6th August 2023, the enchanting city of Lisbon will play host to this momentous event, and KAICIID will be at the forefront, organizing Dialogue Encounters that promote understanding and cooperation among followers of different religious traditions, religious leaders, and policymakers.

As a unique intergovernmental organization with a dual governance structure consisting of a Council of Parties comprising States and a Board of Directors made up of religious leaders, KAICIID is committed to bridging the gaps between diverse faiths, nationalities, and generations. The Dialogue Encounters, part of the Youth Festival strand, will encompass a series of activities designed to facilitate meaningful dialogues and genuine acceptance, in line with the message of His Holiness Pope Francis, who calls for “concrete encounters” and understanding of those different from ourselves.

At the heart of KAICIID’s involvement in World Youth Day are three key activities: a panel debate with representatives from five different religions, the launch of the innovative Dialogo board game, and a screening of the poignant documentary, “Justine: A KAICIID Fellow’s Journey.”

Dr. Zuhair Alharthi, Secretary General of the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID), expressed his enthusiasm for the forthcoming Dialogue Encounters, stating, “At KAICIID, we believe that dialogue is the key to fostering peace and harmony in our interconnected world. We are excited to be hosting several activities, including a panel discussion with leaders from five different religions, the launch of the Dialogo board game in Portugal, and the screening of our latest documentary, all culminating in an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis.”

The KAICIID Dialogo! board game, designed to encourage dialogue, teamwork, and social emotional learning, will be a highlight of the Dialogue Encounters. This game has already made a significant impact worldwide, being embraced by schools, teams, and learning environments as a tool to promote skills in dialogue and peacebuilding. Dr. Alharthi emphasized, “Dialogo! is for youth and adults alike, for all those who seek to develop their skills in dialogue and inspire others to join the conversation.”

Dr. Alharthi further added, “The Dialogue Encounters we have prepared for World Youth Day will empower young people with the necessary tools to facilitate meaningful conversations and embrace diversity. We believe that by promoting dialogue and empathy, we can build bridges that connect cultures and foster global harmony.”

UAE participates in 18th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to address repeated desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Quran

His Excellency Al Marar delivered the UAE’s statement, emphasizing that reflecting the country’s strong belief in the importance of respecting religious symbols and sanctities, the UAE strongly condemns any actions that contradict human and moral values, including the burning and desecration of copies of the Holy Quran.

His Excellency urged all countries around the world to take necessary measures in order to prevent the reoccurrence of such offensive actions, which destabilize security, promote hatred, and fuel extremism. He stressed: “The failure of authorities in Sweden and Denmark to address these provocative acts is in violation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 2686 (2023), adopted unanimously by member states on June 14, 2023, regarding international tolerance, peace and security. This resolution, jointly drafted by the UAE and the United Kingdom, recognizes for the first time that hate speech and extremist acts are directly connected to the escalation and perpetuation of conflicts.

His Excellency emphasized the UAE’s unwavering support for taking a firm and unequivocal stance against the assault on religious sanctities, beliefs, and symbols. He urged all nations, guided by the principles of human fraternity, to address such incidents and actively work towards preventing their recurrence. HE stressed this is crucial for fostering peace, harmony, and dialogue among people worldwide, and for building a more stable world for future generations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ministerial Council approved a resolution addressing the recurring incidents of desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Quran in Sweden and Denmark. Additionally, the Council released a statement denouncing the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli government officials.

Israeli occupation begins new excavations to falsify history of occupied Golan and steal its antiquities

The Israeli occupation authorities have launched illegal archaeological excavations in the Syrian village of Bab al-Hawa, in an attempt to falsify the history of the occupied Syrian Golan and steal its antiquities.

These excavations constitute a further violation of the United Nations resolutions, foremost of which is the Security Council Resolution No. 497 of 1981, which confirms that all Israeli measures on Golan are null and void.

The village of Bab al-Hawa is located in a rugged volcanic area north of Tel al-Aram, and was destroyed by the occupation during its aggression in 1967 along with more than 240 other Syrian villages and farms.

The occupation authorities had carried out excavations at the site years ago and found sarcophagi dating from prehistoric times, as well as ceramics from the Byzantine era.

The occupation excavations in the village come 20 days after the occupation had announced a scheme to bulldoze the remaining homes s in the town of Ein Fitt and turn it into a military site for his forces, despite the Golan people’s rejection of the scheme aims to obliterate the Syrian Arab identity of village.
