UAE continues to provide humanitarian relief to Sudanese refugees and local community in Chad

The United Arab Emirates is continuing its efforts to distribute food parcels to Sudanese refugees and the local community in the Republic of Chad. The operation is being carried out by the UAE’s humanitarian team, which includes the UAE’s Chad-based Aid Coordination Office, the Emirates Red Crescent, the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works.

The team conducted field visits to the Arso 1 and Arso 2 regions, distributing parcels to the residents in these areas which included essential food items.

His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organizations Affairs, highlighted that the UAE’s Aid Coordination Office, recently opened in Chad in the city of Amdjarass, has begun its field work and visits to the local communities hosting Sudanese refugees on the Chadian border. The office is working on distributing food parcels and conducting field assessments of basic needs. The assessments aim to determine the type of support required and the most suitable methods for distribution to ensure aid reaches those in need, particularly the most vulnerable groups such as the sick, children, the elderly, and women.

HE Al Shamsi added that the UAE’s humanitarian team has also facilitated medical support through mobile clinics by conducting health examinations for many residents in the two regions and by providing essential medication.

He emphasized that the UAE, under directives from its leadership, continues its relief efforts, working to alleviate human suffering resulting from wars, crises and natural disasters. This commitment follows the humanitarian approach of the country to provide assistance, regardless of political association, geographical location, race, color, gender or religion. In this regard, the UAE is committed to addressing the humanitarian requirements of those in need, reducing poverty, and eliminating hunger.

Al-Hogail Patronizes Launch of Saudi-Chinese Business Forum, and Signing of 12 Cooperation Agreements between the Two Countries, with Investments Exceeding SAR 5 Billion

The Saudi-Chinese Business Forum is commenced today in Beijing under the patronage of the Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, the Saudi Ambassador to China, Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, was also present at the event. The forum focused on exploring investment opportunities between Saudi Arabia and China, with a special emphasis on strengthening partnerships in urban infrastructure, housing, real estate development, and financing.

Al-Hogail expressed his enthusiasm for the launch of the Saudi-Chinese Business Forum, highlighting the Kingdom’s dedication to enhancing its partnership with China under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He highlighted the three summits that took place during the Chinese President’s visit to the Kingdom in December, as well as the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two countries, which includes an action plan for cooperation in the housing sector.

Al-Hogail emphasized the commitment of both countries’ leaders to develop the housing and municipal sectors further, and expressed his aspirations for increased collaboration in urban infrastructure, housing, real estate development, and financing. He noted the significant investment opportunities available in the Kingdom, with the construction of over 300,000 housing units across 17 Saudi cities, covering an area of more than 150 million square meters, and valued at over SAR 100 billion. Al-Hogail invited Chinese companies to invest in real estate development in Saudi Arabia.

He praised the successful collaboration between the Kingdom and Chinese companies in housing projects throughout Saudi Arabia, revealing that the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing is currently working with several Chinese companies on housing projects worth SAR 3 billion.

On the sidelines of the Saudi-Chinese Business Forum, the Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing witnessed the signing of 12 cooperation agreements between Saudi and Chinese companies and banks. These agreements, with a total investment value exceeding SAR 5 billion, covered various fields including infrastructure development and financing, and specifically included five agreements related to housing projects.

Red Sea Fund Selects 33 Cinema Projects to Receive Funding

The Red Sea Fund announced today its selection of 33 promising projects from the Kingdom, the Arab region, and Africa to receive support and financial grants.

The selected projects, which are in development, are based on promising and creative ideas that cover a broad array of categories and narratives.

The projects shed light on the richness and diversity of storytelling in Saudi Arabia as well as in the wider region, including thought-provoking dramas, inspiring documentaries, and entertaining animated films.

The projects will play a role in advancing the cultural scene, enhancing communication, and increasing global understanding of Saudi Arabia, the Arab region, and Africa.

The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF), which supervises the fund, is dedicated to developing the film industry in the region and in Saudi Arabia, where filmmaking keeps evolving and thriving.

The RSIFF also works to deliver diverse cinematic voices and promote dialogue between cultures to ensure the continuation of filmmaking across the region and take the success of the region’s film industry to global levels.

Saudi National Football Team to Gear Up with Preparatory Camp in Newcastle for AFC Asian Cup 2023

The Saudi national football team will conduct a preparatory training camp in Newcastle, England during the upcoming FIFA International Days in September. This camp marks the second phase of the national team’s preparation program for the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, which is scheduled to take place in January.

The Saudi team’s camp, scheduled from September 3rd to September 12th, includes two friendly matches. The first match will be against the Costa Rican national team on September 8th, followed by a friendly game against the South Korean national team on September 12th. Both matches will be played at St. James’ Park, the home stadium of the English club, Newcastle United FC.

In the AFC Asian Cup, the Saudi national team is positioned in Group Six, alongside Oman, Kyrgyzstan, and Thailand.

Bahrain All Share Index marks 1,960.08 points

Bahrain All Share Index closed at 1,960.08 points marking an increase of 0.65 points above the previous closing.

This increase was due to the rise in the Financials Sector.

Bahrain Islamic Index closed at 761.09 points marking a decrease of 2.91 points below the previous closing.

Results indicated that 54 equity transactions took place with a volume of 1,479,735 worth BD 276,685.

Investors traded mainly in the Financials Sector representing 45.50% of the total value of securities traded.

Arab League Secretary-General Speaks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received a telephone call from Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

The Arab League said in a statement issued today that the call dealt with developments of the Ukrainian crisis and international efforts to resolve it.

It said the call also addressed difficulties that Ukraine faces in exporting its products, especially grain, after the Russian side refused to renew the work of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

LMRA conducts two Joint inspection campaigns

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted two joint inspection campaigns in the Capital Governorate and the Northern Governorate on a number of shops and work sites.

The campaigns resulted in reporting violations related to the Labour Market and Residency laws. The cases were referred for legal action.

LMRA noted that a joint inspection campaign was conducted in the Capital Governorate in coordination with the Sentence Enforcement Department. The other inspection campaign was undertaken in the Northern Governorate in coordination with the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA).

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority renewed its call on all members of the society to support the efforts of government agencies in addressing illegal labour practices, by reporting violations via the electronic form on the authority’s website www.lmra.gov.bh or by calling the authority’s call centre on 17506055.

Bahraini-Indian military cooperation highlighted

Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqer Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), received Rear Admiral Vineet S McCarty, Indian Commander of the Western Fleet.

The chief of staff praised the Bahraini-Indian longstanding partnership.

The meeting discussed cooperation and military coordination, and ways to further developing them.

Major General Salah Rashid Al Saad, Director of Military Training, and Rear Admiral Mohammed Yousif Al Asam, Director of Military Cooperation attended the meeting.
