UAE condemns burning of churches and dozens of homes in Pakistan

The UAE has strongly condemned the burning of a number of churches and dozens of homes by extremists in Pakistan, and denounced the coinciding violence that has taken place.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) commended the efforts and diligence of the Pakistani government and the measures it implemented in confronting these criminal acts.

The Ministry affirmed the UAE’s permanent rejection of all practices aimed at undermining security and stability in contravention of human and moral values and principles, stressing that hate speech and extremism contradict international efforts to spread the values of tolerance, coexistence and peace among peoples.

Furthermore, the Ministry stressed the need to respect religious symbols and avoid incitement and polarization at a time when the international community needs to work together to reaffirm a commitment to upholding the universal principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, which should be promoted and implemented to achieve stability and sustainable development.

Emirates Red Crescent Authority completes residential site for earthquake victims in Jableh

The Emirates Red Crescent Authority, in cooperation with Lattakia Governorate, completed the preparation of Al-Naqaa site in Jableh city , which was prepared as part of a project to implement 1,000 housing units for those affected by the earthquake.

The site includes 47 housing units equipped with suitable supplies for the residence of the families affected by the earthquake according to the priorities identified by the administrative units.

The site was inaugurated Saturday by the Governor of Lattakia, Eng. Amer Hilal, and Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, Hammoud Abdullah Al-Junaibi, in addition to that they inaugurated two new halls in Faculty of Dentistry containing 60 medical chairs and six mobile X-ray machines, and two halls in the Faculty of Civil Engineering containing 201 computers.

Chargé d’Affaires of the United Arab Emirates Embassy, Counselor Abdul Hakim Ibrahim al-Nuaimi, affirmed that his country continued to support the Syrian people in the post-earthquake recovery phase, adding that the purpose of tour is to brief the housing units as well as opening of new halls in Tishreen University.

In his turn , Lattakia’s Governor , Eng. Amer Hilal, thanked the support of the UAE, as “Al-Naq’a” site in Jableh city has been completed, and it is one of Seven sites in which 1,000 housing units will be implemented successively within 4 months.

President al-Assad to deputy ministers: Reviewing the State’s policies helps us to determine what is best for current and upcoming stage

President Bashar al-Assad affirmed that dialogue between ministries and institutions creates new ideas for building more feasible policies to serve society, and that this dialogue must take into account diagnosing problems, weaknesses and needs, without which we do not build sound sectoral or general policies.

President al-Assad said, during a dialogue with the deputy ministers who completed a training program on making specialized policies and their executive programmes, responding to sectoral challenges and addressing the problems that the government apparatus suffers from, “Research and discussion in sectoral policies are not correct unless we proceed from public policies and the identity of the State at the economic and service level and Education, health and other fields, as the identity of the state is what determines public policies, and the latter is what determines policy in every sector or field”.

President al-Assad raised an initial point during the dialogue, as he noted the need to review the public policies of the state in terms of where they failed and where they succeeded, particularly this review helps us to determine what are the best policies for the current and upcoming stage.

President al-Assad pointed out that the role of deputy ministers and their tasks is as a decisive element in the performance of ministries because they are the focal point between planning and implementation, and they contribute to policy-making and implementation as well. Therefore, the ability of assistants to perform their tasks with high efficiency raises the performance of ministries, institutions and departments and strengthens their economic, social and health functions in all sectors.

The deputy ministers, in their turns , gave models and ideas for renewing sectoral policies according to their fields, addressing the challenges that stand in the way of their implementation, in addition to the necessity of coordination and networking among them, within the framework of the state’s public policy.

The Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, the Minister of Administrative Development, Dr. Salam Safaf, and the program trainers, Dr. Wael al-Halqi, Dr. Adel Safar, Dr. Amer Mardini, Dr. Tamer Al-Hajjah and Dr. Mamoun Hamdan, participated in the dialogue.H

Syrian swimmer, Hammam Mualla, withdraws from world championship due to presence of “Israeli” player

The Syrian international swimmer Hammam Hashim Mualla withdrew from the 200-meter butterfly race at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Japan.

The athlete’s withdrawal is due to the presence of an Israeli player.

Hammam Mualla was born in Damascus in 1973. He is one of the swimmers of the national team. He participated in many local ,international and continental championships.

Distribution of Russian humanitarian aid in Tartous countryside

The Russian Coordination Center at Hmeimim base provided about 2.5 tons of humanitarian aid to the citizens of al-Danair village in Tartous countryside.

This aid is provided to the village inhabitants on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, which is the anniversary of the martyrdom of 22 people while providing humanitarian aid in the Iraqi capital Baghdad in 2003, which has become a global day in which relief aid is provided in various countries of the world to needy families, the representative of the Russian Coordination Center, Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Libyukhin, said in a statement .

This aid is an affirmation of the friendship of the Russian people and government to the Syrian people and Russia’s continued support for Syria.

On the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day… Russian aid distribution in Qamishli

The Russian forces in Qamishli distributed food aid to about 300 families in al-Watotiyeh village in Qamishli countryside.

On the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day (which is the anniversary of the martyrdom of 22 people while performing their humanitarian work in Iraq in 2003 following a terrorist attack), the Russian forces distributed food baskets to 300 families, the supervisor of the distribution operations of the Russian forces, Lieutenant-Colonel Victor said.

He added that this humanitarian work of the Russian forces continues to support Syria, which is suffering from difficult conditions as a result of the war, the earthquake and the unjust siege imposed on the Syrian people.

Head of al-Watotiyeh church committee Aziz Soumi stressed that the Russian initiative represents Russia’s humanitarian role in supporting the Syrian people.

General Directorate for Narcotics Control (GDNC) officers arrested two Pakistani residents in Jeddah Governorate for attempting to sell 3,5 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The suspects were apprehended, interrogated and sent to appear before justice.

A Saudi-Bred Falcon Gets the Highest Bid in the Middle East, Amounting to $134,000

The sixth night of the International Falcon Breeders Auction, hosted by the Saudi Falcon Club at its headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh city, witnessed the sale of a Saudi-bred hur falcon selling for the highest price in the Middle East so far, amounting to SAR500,000 ($134,000), surpassing the previous record of SAR270,000.

The auction began with the hur falcon from Al-Nader Falcon Center; the bidding started at SAR50,000 to be sold, eventually, for SAR500,000. The second falcon, also a hur from Al-Dahas Falcon farm, was sold for SAR70,000.

The Saudi Falcon Club presents a selection of falcons at the auction. The bidding is conducted transparently, broadcasts live on television channels and club accounts on social media platforms. The club announces the falcons to be auctioned a night before the auction.

The International Falcon Breeders Auction welcomes visitors daily from 4 pm until 11 pm, from August 5 to 25. It represents a reliable and secure market for falconers and falcon breeders, and works to see the Saudi Falcon Club become leader in promoting the hobby of breeding and caring for falcons. It acts as a cultural and economic supporter and a platform to enhance environmental awareness.

KSrelief implements over 2,400 projects in 92 countries

Since it was founded by King Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been extending a helping hand to the needy and relieving the suffering of people everywhere, and under Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom continues to be a global pioneer in the field of humanitarian work, a fact widely acknowledged by the UN and other international organizations, as are its relief and humanitarian efforts, which spread the seeds of goodness all over the world.

The Kingdom’s humanitarian and pioneering role in the international community, and awareness of the importance of this influential role in alleviating human suffering and helping people enjoy a decent life, made Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud order the establishment of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on May 13, 2015, to lead humanitarian work, and to organize and unify Saudi humanitarian and relief work under one umbrella, that of the center.

Under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the tireless follow-up by HRH the Crown Prince, KSrelief has, over the past eight years, reached 92 countries, implementing 2,473 humanitarian and relief projects worth more than $6 billion targeting vital sectors, including food, education, health, nutrition and water, environmental sanitation and shelter, benefiting millions of the most vulnerable and needy groups in the targeted countries.

The center established close partnerships and strategic relations with regional and international organizations and civil society institutions, reaching 175 partners. The center also has volunteer work among its main objectives, seeking to develop it, educate young people about its importance and motivating them to participate in such work and contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the goal being to increase the number of volunteers in the Kingdom to one million.

In this regard, KSrelief launched the “Saudi Portal for External Volunteering”, which aims to qualify and train those volunteering to participate in the center’s work abroad. More than 53,000 volunteers registered on the portal so far. Furthermore, there are efforts to attract volunteers from various agencies and specializations to participate in the center’s more than 410 voluntary programs implemented in various fields in 35 countries.

The center marks the International Humanitarian Day, which is observed every year on August 19, by sharing the world’s gratitude and appreciation for the humanitarian workers who sacrificed their lives to serve people and help the needy and refugees in various parts of the world.

Jazan Border Guards Foil Attempt to Smuggle 71 Kg of Khat

Border Guard patrols in the Al-Harth governorate of the Jazan Region have intercepted an attempt to smuggle 71 kilograms of khat. The confiscated items have been handed over to the authorities, following the necessary legal procedures.
