Qatari Flag Raised at the 19th Asian Games Village in China’s Hangzhou

The Qatari flag was raised Thursday at the 19th Asian Games village in China’s Hangzhou. The tournament is due to kick off Saturday.

HE Second Vice President of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Dr. Thani bin Abdulrahman Al Kuwari, HE QOC’s Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, and chef de mission Rashid Adiba were in attendance, along with several QOC officials and representatives and sports federations.

During the flag-raising ceremony, the State of Qatar’s national anthem was played. Adiba exchanged shields with the organizing committee representative and festive shows and carnival activities were performed.

Following the ceremony, the QOC Secretary-General met several Qatari athletes at the sports village and urged them to leave no stone unturned to showcase an honorable image of Qatari sports in the major Asian forum.

Qatari athletes who are competing in 27 sports seek to secure a medal tally that reflects the great development in Qatari sports thanks to the great interest and support it receives from the wise leadership.

QOC, Msheireb Properties Renew Partnership Agreement

Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and Qatars leading sustainable properties developer Msheireb Properties have renewed their ongoing partnership agreement on Thursday to boost the mutual cooperation between them in the fields of sports and tourism.

Director of the QOC Support Services Sector, Hamad Lahdan Al Mohannadi signed this agreement on behalf of the QOC as Chief Officer of Operations, Msheireb Properties, Faisal Ibraheem Al Malki inked on behalf of the company. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organisations.

This agreement states that both organizations will join efforts to arrange the visits of team Qatar stars and guests to Msheireb Downtown Doha and to help organising the QOCs sport events at Msheireb with a reasonable media coverage.

This agreement aims to enhance cooperation in the fields of scientific research, strategic studies, exchange of professional experience and building up a better culture about environment sustainability by organising workshops an seminars.

In a post-signing statement, Al Mohannadi said the QOC was truly happy to renew this agreement, with purpose of promoting the sport culture in community by organising sports activities and events that suit all age groups at most the significant tourist sites like Msheireb Downtown Doha.

For his part , Al Malki said this agreement shows the spirit of partnership and devotion to promote sports, culture and social engagement together at Msheireb Downtown.

Msheireb Properties will spare no effort to turn Msheireb Downtown into a tourist destination that hosts the sports and cultural events. This cooperation will help build up the company’s status as a leading cultural and tourist site in Qatar and will significantly develop Msheireb Downtown to be the best place to visit and to live in, he added.

Msheireb Downtown Doha is a distinctive urban landmark in the heart of Doha. It will offer spacious space for hosting QOCs events. This partnership is a good opportunity to enhance tourist and social aspects in the city and will add exciting ambience along with cultural and art events.

Shura Chairman congratulates HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa

Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, sent a cable of congratulations to Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Member, INJAZ Bahrain Board of Directors Chairperson, on receiving the Social Work Pioneer Medal by the Ministers of Social Affairs and Social Development of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The chairman affirmed HH Shaikha Hessa’s efforts in volunteer work and HH’s contributions to developing the awareness, skills, and capabilities of Bahraini youth in the field of entrepreneurship through her leadership of INJAZ Bahrain.

He praised the keenness of HH Shaikha Hessa to develop young people’s creativity and innovation skills, stimulate their ambitions, and prepare them to engage in the labour market at all levels.

GCC Labour Ministers Committee honours Bahraini companies

Three Bahraini companies were honoured by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Labour Ministers Committee in the categories of workforce empowerment and development, and best small projects, on the sidelines of the ninth meeting of the Committee of GCC Labor Ministers held from September 19-20.

Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour headed the Bahraini delegation.

The three honoured companies were the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), Lulu Hypermarket, and Tamayouz Foods Imports & Exports.

Humaidan congratulated the honoured Bahraini companies on achieving qualitative performance in the Bahrainisation of jobs within the private sector and praised their support of the Ministry of Labor’s employment efforts.

Lane closure on Mashtan avenue announced

Works Ministry said that the construction of the stormwater drainage networks on Mashtan Avenue at its junction with Road 1627 at Riffa necessitate closure of one lane on stages for westbound traffic and one lane will be provided for traffic movement.

The closure will be effective from Sunday for a period of two weeks.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister meets Boston Celtics Team

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with the Boston Celtics Basketball player, Jaylen Brown, and the Boston Celtics Team, at Gudaibiya Palace.

His Royal Highness highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to advancing the sports sector as one of the priority sectors contributing to the Kingdom’s comprehensive development, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Royal Highness emphasised the important role of sports in building bridges of communication between countries and peoples.

His Royal Highness noted the importance of international efforts to enhance sports, highlighting the Kingdom’s commitment to developing basketball, which continues to garner international interest and popularity.

His Royal Highness commended the Kingdom’s wide-ranging initiatives and programmes to develop the sports sector, noting the support provided to the sector by the Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. In this regard, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister extended wishes for success in achieving the Kingdom’s comprehensive development goals.

Health Minister receives AGU newly appointed president

Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health received Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fuhaid, the newly appointed President of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU)

The minister congratulated the university president on his appointment, praising the university’s contribution as a long-standing academic and scientific institution that has contributed for decades to supplying the health sector with the competencies and outputs of distinguished medical personnel.

The meeting dicussed areas of enhancing cooperation and effective partnership between the Ministry of Health and the AGU in implementing training programmes and developing health sector enhancement plans.
