UAE leaders congratulate President of Nigeria on Independence Day

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a message of congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the occasion of his country’s Independence Day.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, dispatched similar messages to President Bola on the occasion.

Temperatures below average, showers expected in various regions

temperatures continue to drop to become slightly below average as the country is affected by a superficial low air pressure from the southeastern in all layers of the atmosphere.

Meteorology Department expected in its Sunday bulletin that the sky will be partly cloudy and rainy particularly over coastal and northeastern, central and some southern regions.

The wind will be western to southwesterly of low to moderate speed with active gusts, while the sea waves will be moderate in amplitude.

The expected temperature degrees in some main Syrian cities will be as follows: Damascus 28 / 17, Homs 27 / 17, Lattakia 29 / 20 and Aleppo 28 / 16.

Syria signs two cooperation agreements with Belarus and Iran

General Federation of Trade Unions of Syria signed two cooperation agreements with Trade Union Confederations in Belarus and Iran.

That camae during a visit of a delegation from the federation to both countries headed by Jamal Al-Qadiri, President of the Federation.

The agreement with Belarus stipulates the exchange of trade union expertise, especially in issues of climate change and the global efforts to reduce relying on fossil fuels and the necessity of a just transition towards a green economy.

The agreement also stipulates unifying joint efforts at international trade union forums, in addition to the possibility of securing scholarships for a number of workers’ sons in order to study at International University of Confederation in Belarus.

The confederation in Belarus condemned embargo policy and unilateral measures imposed by the US and the West on Syria.

During the visit, al-Qadri discussed with Confederation President, Mikhail Orda, cooperation between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the visit, al-Qadri also held an expanded quadripartite meeting with President of Trade Unions in Egypt, Mohamed Gibran, and President of Trade Unions of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Alexander Korthagen.

The meeting underlined the importance of forming a progressive front against US hegemony, which imposes economic sanctions on countries that do not comply with its policy.

In similar visit to Tehran and in the presence of the Syrian Ambassador to Iran, Shafiq Dayoub, the Syrian delegation discussed with Iranian Minister of Cooperation, Labor and Social Prosperity, Sault Mortazavi, cooperation between the two countries, especially in the labor field.

Al-Qadri presented briefed the Iranian side on the situation in Syria and the current challenges facing the Syrian economy due to the terrorist war.

In turn, Mortazavi underscored that strengthening relations between the two brotherly peoples is a main goal of the Iranian government, stressing that union relations serve the interest of workers in both countries.

Palestinian fisherman shot by Israeli occupation fire in Gaza Waters

A Palestinian fisherman was injured on Sunday in an Israeli naval attack on fishermen off the shores of the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the Israeli navy opened fire on the fishing boats off the shores of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, causing the injury of a fisherman.

On Saturday, two Palestinian fishermen were shot by the occupation forces off the Sudanese area of the northern Strip.

Mikdad offers condolences to victims of fire incident in Nineveh province

Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad offered condolences to victims of tragic fire incident in Nineveh province in northern Iraq at chancery of Iraqi Embassy in Damascus.

Mikdad extended condolences, on behalf of the Syrian people, government and leadership.

“The tragedy that has befallen the people in Nineveh province is a tragedy for all Syrians because there is no difference between the Syrians and the Iraqi peoples as the two brotherly countries suffer from terrorism, sanctions, and interference in their internal affairs ,” Mikdad said in a statement to the journalists.

The Foreign Minister reiterated Syria’s support to Iraq and its brotherly people.

Syria participates in Alexandria Film Festival

Syria participated in the 39th edition of the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries through the short feature film Laila’s Passion and the Nobleman (Shaghaf Laila and Al-Shahm) directed by Khaled Othman.

The film is produced by the National Film Organization tell the story of the life of a family in which the fates of the characters struggle between the selfishness of the husband and the ambition of the wife, and their daughter pays the price.

A total of 120 films from 25 countries will participates in the festival which kicked off today until October 5th.

Syrian boxer qualifies for semi-finals at the 19th Asian Games

Syrian boxer Ahmad Ghassoun defeated his Tajik rival Shabbos Negmatulloev today, and qualified for the semifinals of the 80 kg category in the competitions of the 19th Asian Games currently held in the Chinese city, Hangzhou.

Boxer Ghassoun had beaten his South Korean rival Kim Jinjea, in his first fight, with a score of 3-0.

GACA President Heads Kingdom’s Delegation to the Saudi-Brazilian Aviation Conference

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, will be participating in the inaugural Saudi-Brazilian Aviation Conference. The conference, themed ‘Moving Forward Together’, will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from October 2 to 4, 2023. A high-level delegation of experts and executives in aviation, airports, investment, industry, and private service sectors of aviation system, in the public and private sectors will participate in the conference.

This partnership between the Kingdom and the Federative Republic of Brazil aims to achieve the objectives of the Saudi Aviation Strategy, which seeks to establish the Kingdom as a global aviation centre. Brazil will contribute to this partnership by providing its expertise in infrastructure projects and other areas of the aviation sector. It will also create an attractive environment for investors interested in the aviation industry. Additionally, Brazil’s strategic location will enhance connectivity with Latin American countries.

The conference will serve as a platform for industry leaders to discuss opportunities in the aviation sector, particularly in areas such as sustainability and innovation, passenger experience enhancement, and forging new partnerships between public and private sectors. Moreover, the conference will bolster the Kingdom’s international standing and leadership role, facilitating collaboration between countries to improve air travel services and agreements.

In a statement on this occasion, the GACA president praised the efforts of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and their prominent role in supporting and expanding the horizons of economic cooperation, introducing joint investment opportunities in all sectors, creating investment opportunities, facilitating procedures, and accelerating business by strengthening and building partnerships locally and internationally.

The Saudi Aviation Strategy aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in building an attractive and stimulating environment for the aviation sector, and consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a global hub linking the three continents of the world.

The President of GACA emphasized that the aviation sector in the Kingdom receives significant attention from the wise leadership, as it represents a promising pillar of economic diversification and development. The sector is currently undergoing numerous quality initiatives and major developments aimed at achieving significant advancements and expanding its economic and developmental contributions. The goal is to establish the Kingdom’s aviation sector as a leading force in the Middle East, with an annual passenger capacity of 330 million and connections to 250 destinations worldwide. Saudi Space Agency Participates in the International Astronautical Congress in Baku

The Saudi Space Agency participates in the 74th session of the International Astronautical Congress held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, during the period from 2 to 6 October, in order to highlight the Kingdom’s role and pioneering experience in the space sector and its future ambitions, in addition to Strengthening its cooperation with various international bodies in the field of space and its technologies.

In its pavilion, the Kingdom showcases the capabilities it possesses by displaying cognitive, enrichment, and educational materials, and its program for astronauts. It also contributes to introducing visitors to the exhibition accompanying the conference to the experience and presence of the space sector in the Kingdom at the international level, its historical interest in space, and the care given by the Kingdom’s leadership to this vital sector.

With broad international participation, the conference seeks to facilitate the communication process between concerned parties to exchange information and ideas and discuss developments and accurate analyses regarding strategies, emerging trends in the fields of space research, and the prospects for its exploration. 17th Conference of the WOAH Regional Committee Kicks off in Riyadh

The 17th conference of the Regional Committee for the Middle East of the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) 2023 began today. The conference is being organized by the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases ‘Weqaa’ in cooperation with WOAH. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Ayada, the deputy minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) for Agricultural Development, Dr. Monique Eloit, the Director of WOAH, and Eng. Ayman bin Saad Al-Ghamdi, the CEO of the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases ‘Weqaa’.

Twenty countries, a number of international and regional organizations concerned Twenty countries, along with several international and regional organizations dedicated to animal health, will participate in the conference. Additionally, numerous official authorities within the Kingdom will also be in attendance. The conference, set to continue until next Thursday in Riyadh, aims to identify and enhance the role of member states in preventing animal diseases and epidemics by adhering to international standards. It will also address the latest international challenges in animal health and explore ways to strengthen necessary precautionary measures in order to prevent the spread of epidemics and dangerous animal diseases between countries.

During his speech, the deputy minister of Agriculture, Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Ayada, said that the Saudi agricultural sector and livestock and plants will contribute fundamentally to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, as it is a key pillar of food security at the local, regional and global levels. He pointed to the ministry’s establishment of the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases ‘Weqaa’, as a specialized and independent national center in plant and animal health work.

The primary focus of ‘Weqaa’ is to ensure the prevention of plant pests and animal diseases, thus safeguarding public health from the risks associated with diseases that can affect both humans and animals. Additionally, ‘Weqaa’ is responsible for effectively implementing and monitoring prevention and control measures against plant pests and animal diseases, with a proactive approach.

The 17th conference aims to review the latest developments in the prevention and control of animal diseases. The conference will also prioritize and classify these diseases within the Middle East region.
