Syrian-Iraqi talks to bolster cooperation in energy field


Baghdad, Syria and Iraq discussed means to enhance bilateral cooperation in the electric energy field.

That came during a meeting between Syrian Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah and Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Ziad Ali Fadel.

Media office of Iraqi Electricity Ministry said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Baghdad ‘the talks focused on developing joint strategic plans to improve energy sector and ensure its sustainability in both countries.

The two sides agreed to exchange experiences and implement Joint projects to improve electrical capacity, achieve energy self-sufficiency, and consolidate stability and development in the region, according to the statement.

Ambassador al-Dandah said in a statement that the meeting stressed the depth of Syrian-Iraqi distinguished fraternal and historical relations, and the keenness to boost bilateral relations and upgrade them to the highest levels.

Al-Dandah added the discussions dealt with completing the electrical interconnection agreement be
tween the two brotherly countries in al-Bukamal-al-Qaim region, in addition to exchanging expertise in the energy fields through visits and preparing the required studies.

Russian forces destroy Ukrainian military equipment near Kupyansk


Moscow, Russian forces today destroyed Ukrainian military equipment and transport in the Kupyansk direction.

In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that ‘the forces of the First Guard of the Western Group of the Russian army destroyed a military transport truck belonging to the Ukrainian forces in the direction of Kupyansk, and clarified that the Ukrainian forces were using the truck to deliver ammunition and materials to their forward positions.’

The day before, Russian forces neutralized some 620 Ukrainian soldiers and shot down 36 drones.

Education Ministry, ADRA discuss cooperation


Damascus, Education Minister Muhammad Amer Mardini discussed on Sunday with Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) director for the Middle East and North Africa Nagi Khalil means to expand cooperation and provide support for the education sector in Syria.

Mardini said that the Ministry is working hard to ensure that the educational process continues in the optimal manner in Syria, and that it exerts considerable efforts to rebuild and repair schools damaged by terrorism.

The minister indicated the importance of focusing on preparing training programs, qualifying teachers, and following up on school restoration in cooperation with ADRA .

For his part, Khalil said ADRA is prepared to provide support to a number of projects that have priority, reviewing the Agency’s goals and work in providing relief and social care.

Army celebrates graduation of 18th round of high staff and command


Damascus, Under the patronage of Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed forces, President Bashar al-Assad, a celebration was held on Sunday to graduate the 18th round of high staff and command at the Higher Military Academy.

The President was represented to the ceremony by the Chief of the General Staff of the Army and Armed Forces, General Abdul Karim Mahmoud Ibrahim.

General Ibrahim conveyed President al-Assad’s congratulations to the graduated officers, wishing them success and excellence in carrying out all the tasks and responsibilities assigned to them.

General Ibrahim highlighted the scale of the challenges faces our homeland and the entire region, especially in the light of the ongoing barbaric Zionist aggression on the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories supported by the US and its Western allies.

Damascus, Units of Syrian armed forces shot down seven terrorist drones in the countryside of Aleppo and Hama.

‘Units of Syrian armed forces operating in the countryside of Aleppo and Hama responded to drone attacks launched by terrorist organizations on the surrounding safe villages and towns, causing to down and destroy seven terrorist drones and prevented them from achieving their goals’ the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Sunday.
