Bishop Krikor Kosa prays for peace and stability in Syria and the occupied Palestine


Cairo, Bishop Krikor Kosa of the Armenian Catholics in Alexandria expressed hope that peace and stability would prevail in Syria and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Bishop Krikor Kosa was speaking during a Christmas mass held in Cairo on Sunday.

He called for ending the wars in all parts of the world and ending suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, especially innocent children.

Speaking to SANA correspondent in Cairo, the bishop prayed to God to bless the entirety of Syria with peace and security.

Chinese appreciation of Syrian youth initiative who helped Gansu earthquake victims


Beijing, The initiative of Syrian Youth Dr. Zain al-Abidin Ali who helped those affected by the earthquake that hit northwestern China’s Gansu Province last week has been welcomed and appreciated at various levels of the Chinese government and people.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin mentioned on his official social media account the initiative of Dr. Zain al-Abidin, which was manifested in his humanitarian work to help the areas affected by the earthquake in Gansu Province.

‘The young Syrian rushed to the earthquake-affected areas of Gansu Province for help’, the spokesman wrote, recalling what Zayn al-Abidin said that ‘the Damascene rose that was watered with Chinese water grew and grew with love and kindness, which is the way of mutual love between China and Syria’

President Al-Assad issues Law No. 39 on preserving forests


Damascus, President Bashar al-Assad on Monday issued Law No. 39 for the year 2023 regarding forests and forest lands with the aim of preserving forest agriculture and managing it sustainably in cooperation and partnership with the local community to ensure its protection and benefit from it, while introducing new concepts and terminology for forestry work and imposing penalties to deter any breach and protect forest areas.

Pope Francis calls for an end to the Israeli war on Gaza


Vatican, Pope Francis on Monday deplored the desperate humanitarian situation of Palestinians in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire and the freeing of hostages in his Christmas message.

I plead for an end to the military operations in Gaza with their appalling harvest of innocent civilian victims, and call for a solution to the desperate humanitarian situation by an opening to the provision of humanitarian aid,’ Pope Francis added.

The pope also called for sincere and persevering dialogue between the parties, sustained by strong political will and the support of the international community’.

The Israeli occupation forces continue brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip despite international condemnations and positions rejecting it, in light of full US and Western support.

Education honors team participating in Masters Vocational and Technical competition held in Russia


Damascus, The Ministry of Education honored the team participating in the ‘Masters Vocational and Technical’ competition after winning second place equally with China in the final stage held in Russia.

This result came after competing with several teams from 12 countries in several professional tracks.

During the honoring, Minister of Education, Muhammad Amer al-Mardini, attached great importance to the vocational and technical education in building society and developing skills, focusing on enhancing teamwork and reading to character-building, along with the necessity of encouraging students to participate in local and international competitions.

The honoring ceremony was in the presence of the winners’ families and coaches.

Director of Vocational Education at the Ministry, Fahmi al-Akhal, in turn, talked about the necessity of focusing on vocational education and encouraging students to learn these skills from a young age, indicating that the topic of the final stage of the competition was designing a
robot and assigning it to gradually carry out tasks.

Last September, the team came also second in the first stage competitions.

Damascus, President Bashar al-Assad on Monday congratulated Christian denominations on Christmas.

Secretary General of the Republic’s Presidency, Mansour Azzam, offered the congratulations to the bishops and metropolitans on behalf of President al-Assad.

Azzam conveyed the President’s greetings to Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Rome Orthodox, John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Syriac Orthodox in the World Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Melkite Catholics Youssef Absi, the Syriac Catholic Archbishop of Damascus Bishop Mar John Jihad Battah and to the Armenian Catholic Archbishop of Damascus Bishop George Asadorian.

Mr. Azzam also conveyed President al-Assad’s congratulations to the President of the Evangelical Synod in Syria and Lebanon, the spiritual chief of the National Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Damascus, Father Boutros Zaour, the Archbishop of the Maronite Diocese of Damascus, Bishop Samir Nassar and to President of the Latin community in
Damascus, Father Firas Lutfi and to the pastor of the Chaldean Church in Damascus, Father Jamil Yashua.

In turn, the patriarchs, bishops, and fathers conveyed the Secretary-General of the Presidency their good wishes, thanks, and appreciation to President al-Assad for his generous gesture and congratulations.

They prayed to God to protect Syria, its people, and its army, to have mercy on its martyrs, and to grant President al-Assad success and to help Syria in restoring its security and stability, stressing that Christmas comes this year while pain fills the hearts of the Syrian people in light of the crimes of genocide committed by the Zionist enemy in the Holy Land of Christmas, Particularly in Gaza.

Iraqi Resistance targets US occupation base in Syria’s Al-Omar oil field in Deir Ezzor


Baghdad, The Iraqi resistance, carried out a drone attack on the Green Village base in Syria’s Al-Omar oil field in Deir Ezzor countryside.

‘In continuation of our approach to resisting the US occupation forces in Iraq and the region, and in response to the Zionist entity’s massacres against our people in Gaza, our fighters attacked the occupation base in the Green Village deep inside Syria with drones’, the resistance said in a statement on Monday, stressing their continued crushing of enemy strongholds and bases.

Since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, the Iraqi resistance has been repeatedly firing missiles and launching drones against US occupation bases in Iraq and Syria.
