Injuries and clashes.. Arrest campaign in the West Bank

Bethlehem – Ma’an – The Israeli occupation forces launched a campaign of raids, which included arrests, in several areas in the West Bank on Sunday.

In Jenin, the occupation forces arrested at dawn today journalist Hamza Zioud, the freed prisoner Adnan Abu Rashid from the town of Silat al-Harithiya, and the young man Ayman Samer Mar’i to pressure Basil Mar’i’s brother to surrender himself after storming their relatives’ home in the town of Kafr Dhan, west of Jenin.

In Qalqilya, the occupation forces also arrested the freed prisoner Tamer Radwan during a raid on the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya.

In Nablus, the occupation forces arrested the brothers Abdul Nasser and Amr Mahmoud Salah, Amr Ahmed Hamdan Saif, Mu’taman Subaih Saif, and Muhammad Jamal Fayez Masoud from the village of Burqa near Nablus.

The Red Crescent announced that its crews in Nablus dealt with a live bullet injury in the thigh, following the storming of the Ein camp in Nablus and the outbreak of clashes.

In Jerusalem, the occupation fo
rces carried out a wide-scale arrest campaign in the town of Issawiya, including: Yazan Naaji, Wael Sabta, Abdullah Obeid, Diaa Obeid, Mustafa Nasser, and Murad Nasser.

Weightlifter Maan Asaad gains 5th Place in weightlifting at Paris Olympics


Paris, Olympic weightlifter, Maan Assaad ,won 5th place in the +102kg weightlifting competition at the Paris Olympic Games.

The weightlifter lifted 197kg in the snatch and 241kg in the clean and jerk, for a total of 438kg.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian delegation’s participation in the Olympics included swimming, judo, athletics and gymnastics competitions, while the equestrian Amr Hamsho did not participate in the equestrian race due to his horse’s injury.

Bulldozing areas and uprooting 100 olive trees for the benefit of the settlement east of Salfit

Salfit – Ma’an – Settler bulldozers have leveled large areas and uprooted 100 olive trees from citizens’ lands in the village of Yasuf, east of Salfit, in favor of expanding the “Nove Hamaya” settlement, which is built on Palestinian lands.

The head of the Yasuf village council, Wael Abu Madi, said: ‘The Israeli occupation forces bulldozed approximately 6 dunums of citizens’ land in the Al-Sarab area located between the villages of Yasuf and Iskaka, and uprooted 100 olive trees, aged between 50-60 years, in order to expand the settlement and pave a road leading to it.’

Abu Madi added that the lands that were bulldozed are owned by citizens of the village, including the brothers Abdullah, Ahmed, and Hanan Mustafa Al-Abd, and the brothers Ziad and Zuhair Jamil Abdul Razzaq, noting that the area is approximately 100 meters away from the citizens’ homes, and is planted with olive trees.

Abu Madi stated that the settlers continue to bulldoze and steal lands in order to expand their settlements at the expense of
the citizens’ lands in Yasuf.

HH Shaikh Nasser meets FEI President

Paris, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Honorary President of the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF), met with Ingmar De Vos, President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).

The meeting, held in Paris on the sidelines of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was attended by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), along with Fares Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the BOC.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser underscored the commitment to fostering cooperation and coordination with the FEI to enhance equestrian sports. His Highness highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s significant dedication to these sports, which receives continuous support from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government led b
y His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser said cooperation with the FEI will contribute to the continuous development of equestrian sports and the championships organised by the FEI. He praised De Vos for his efforts in this regard.

During the meeting, His Highness and Ingmar De Vos reviewed the preparations for upcoming FEI championships, particularly the World Endurance Championship set to take place in France this September. His Highness wished the FEI and the organising committee success in their endeavours.

Ombudsman Secretary General meets US Acting Deputy Chief of Mission

Manama, Ghada Hameed Habib, the Secretary General of the Ombudsman office, met with Elizabeth Hattingh, the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States to Bahrain.

During the meeting, Hattinght was briefed on the efforts of the Ombudsman’s General Secretariat and its role in promoting human rights within correctional and detention centres, in collaboration with relevant authorities. She was also informed about the mechanisms for handling complaints and inquiries received by the general secretariat.

The secretary general emphasised that the Ombudsman office adheres to a professional approach that incorporates specific standards in dealing with complaints, relying on evidence and information that is directly verified.

She also expressed the secretariat’s welcome for purposeful and positive communication with concerned entities and institutions, following the principle of transparency, and in pursuit of enhancing cooperation and the exchange of expertise.

HH Shaikh Nasser congratulates HM King, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on Bahrain’s Olympic achievements

Paris, Bahrain made history at the 33rd Olympic Games, which concluded in Paris on Sunday, August 11th, by securing four medals for the first time since its debut at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics. The Kingdom clinched two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze, marking a significant milestone in its Olympic journey.

Wrestler Ahmed Taj Eddin secured Bahrain’s second gold in the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking the Kingdom’s fourth Olympic gold overall, after defeating his Georgian opponent in an outstanding performance. This achievement adds to the wrestlers track record and gained Bahraini wrestling its first Olympic medal, after athletics and weightlifting.

Bahrain has secured a total of 8 Olympic medals in its eleven participations, including four golds, three silvers, and one bronze.

By the end of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Bahrain has ranked first among Arab nations and 33rd globally out of approximately 204 participating countries. It had ranked 77th in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, 48th in the Rio 2016 Olympics, and 50th in the London 2012 Olympics.

Information Minister receives Bahrain Writers Association

Manama, Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information, received the Bahrain Writers Association Board of Directors, led by Dr. Rashid Najem.
