2026 FIFA World Cup: Japan, Sweden Reach Round of 32

Doha: Japan and Sweden booked their places in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after playing out a 1-1 draw in their final Group F match.

According to Qatar News Agency, after a goalless first half, Japan took the lead in the 56th minute through Daizen Maeda. Sweden responded six minutes later, with Anthony Elanga scoring the equalizer.

Japan finished second in Group F with five points, behind the Netherlands, who topped the group with seven points, thus securing their direct qualification to the Round of 32.
