25 Countries Suspend Postal Services to US Due to Tariffs

Doha: The Universal Postal Union (UPU) has announced that 25 countries have decided to suspend parcel shipments to the US, amid growing concerns about the repercussions of the imminent US tariffs.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement Tuesday, the UPU said that postal institutions in these countries informed it of the suspension of their outbound services to the US “due to the uncertainty surrounding transit services.”

The statement added that this suspension will continue until sufficient clarification is issued by US authorities regarding the implementation of the new measures, along with the practical implementation of the required operational adjustments.

The US administration announced its intention to cancel the customs exemption granted to incoming small parcels as of August 29, prompting a number of national postal institutions, including those in France, Germany, India, and Australia, to temporarily stop accepting parcels bound for the US.
