26th International Islamic Fiqh Academy Council Kicks Off in Doha

Doha: Under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, the 26th Council of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), a subsidiary of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), commenced in Doha. The five-day event will debate contemporary jurisprudential, economic, and medical issues concerning Muslim countries and communities.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim emphasized that Islamic Sharia provides comprehensive solutions to all questions concerning humanity. He expressed that the gathering of Muslim scholars in Doha would facilitate exchanging views on pressing issues and developments, aiming to formulate a vision that resonates with the Muslim nation.

His Excellency stated the importance of empowering the IIFA Council and other scholarly and legal bodies to tackle challenges facing Muslims, such as the destruction of family structures, negative influences on the youth, degradation of virtues, and promotion of atheism and other concerns. He highlighted that the topics on the agenda would undergo thorough scrutiny to develop a jurisprudential vision admired by Muslim individuals and jurists.

HE OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha addressed the international events, particularly the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and occupied Palestinian territories, emphasizing the need for greater solidarity with the victims. He commended IIFA's efforts to expose Israeli occupation crimes and urged OIC Member States to provide financial and academic support to the IIFA to continue its mission in serving Muslims.
