2nd Government Communications Forum Concludes Successfully

Doha: The second annual Government Communication Forum wrapped up Thursday, following two days of extensive discussions. The event, organized by the Government Communications Office (GCO), brought together communications and media professionals from across government and semi-government entities to discuss strategies to strengthen Qatar’s government communication framework.

According to Qatar News Agency, leading specialists from government entities, prominent media institutions, and social media influencers engaged in rich discussion sessions focused on advancing government communication strategies. This year’s edition also featured an expanded program of specialized workshops led by the GCO team, which supports the office’s mission to develop local talent in communications and media, in alignment with the Third National Development Strategy.

HE Director of the Government Communication Office Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani highlighted the forum’s continued success, saying: “This edition reflects GCO’s commitment to strengthening Qatar’s government communication ecosystem. We continue to build on our progress, adopting best practices to enhance communication strategies across all sectors.” “The GCO spares no effort in leveraging its resources to support government institutions in communications, ensuring alignment between government activities and state messaging while fostering consistency and coordination among all state entities,” His Excellency added.

This year’s expanded agenda featured additional sessions and workshops alongside new activities designed to address national priorities and keep pace with the rapidly evolving media landscape. Discussions explored key themes, including digital-age communications tools, the impact of digital platforms on communications, and the importance of government investment in artificial intelligence. This year, participants included representatives from ministries, government entities, and leading global media platforms, including Google and Snapchat.

Discussions also examined ways to enhance cooperation between government and semi-government institutions to maintain a unified national narrative. The event also saw dedicated sessions highlighting the importance of visual identity in shaping public perception and the need for official institutions to maintain a cohesive communication approach that aligns with Qatar’s national objectives.

Complementing this, a series of workshops provided practical training on professional photography, smartphone content creation, strategic branding, media monitoring, and digital campaign management. Additionally, the second edition featured several distinctive additions, most notably the GCO Hub, which highlighted the office’s continuous efforts in supporting Qatar’s government communication system while showcasing the state’s achievements across all sectors.

Held annually, the Government Communication Forum serves as a strategic platform for communications professionals across government institutions to exchange expertise, discuss emerging trends, and reinforce Qatar’s position as a leader in government communications.
