Tumbes: An earthquake measuring 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale hit on Sunday the Tumbes region in Peru. The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake occurred 43 km north of Zorritos town in the region, at a depth of 35 km.
According to Qatar News Agency, there have been no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake. Peru experiences an average of at least 400 earthquakes annually due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire - a major zone of seismic activity that stretches along the western coast of the Americas.
