Doha: An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck the South Sandwich Islands, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic, on Sunday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The South Sandwich Islands are an archipelago that forms part of the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands territory.
