Jakarta: An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck North Sulawesi province in Indonesia on Monday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) stated that the epicenter of the quake was located 69 kilometers from the Bolaang Mongondow Regency, at a depth of 28 kilometers.
There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far. Earthquakes regularly hit parts of Indonesia, as the country lies on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire,' where many tectonic plates meet, leading to frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
