According to Qatar News Agency, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 31 km, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.

No tsunami warnings were issued.

Indonesia lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where numerous tectonic plates meet, resulting in frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
