Cairo, Barada Club won 8 gold medals in the first International Alpagut Championship, which concluded on Sunday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with the participation of five countries: Egypt, Palestine, Iraq, Yemen, besides to Syria. The gold medals were gained by Haitham al-Salihi in 42 kg weight for the category under 16 years, Murad Al-Salihi 50 kg weight for the category under 14 years, Raed Al Rahwan in the 55 kg weight for the category under-18 years, and Rayan Qarqjia in the 55 kg weight for the category under-18 years ,as each of them won two gold medals for competing in two styles of the game. Alpagut is a modern combat and defensive sport, and includes a set of movements and rules from karate, wrestling, and judo. Source: Syrian Arab News Agency
