Doha: Al Ahli SC announced on Tuesday the signing of Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong on a one season and a half contract, joining from Saudi club Al-Kholood.
According to Qatar News Agency, the club confirmed in a statement on its official website that the 32-year-old defender has completed his move and officially joined the first team. Troost-Ekong arrives as a replacement for Croatian defender Matej Mitrovic, whose season-ending injury has ended his time with the team.
Al Ahli explained that the decision to sign Troost-Ekong aligns with the club's technical vision and the team's need for an experienced central defender. His addition is expected to strengthen the squad during the 2025-2026 season, as Al Ahli compete in the AFC Champions League Round of 16, the Qatar Stars League, and the Amir Cup.
