Al Raya Highlights Ministry of Transport’s Efforts to Establish Qatar as a Leading Hub in Maritime Transport

Doha: The Qatari newspaper Al Raya praised the Ministry of Transport’s efforts to establish Qatar as a leading hub for maritime transport and logistics innovation.

According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial published on Saturday, the paper emphasized Qatar’s strategic investment in logistics infrastructure as part of its broader push to transform the sector. These initiatives, Al Raya noted, have led to “exceptional and qualitative achievements” in a field that underpins the nation’s trade and transport systems.

Under the headline “Qatar: A Maritime Leader,” the paper credited improvements in logistics services and infrastructure with streamlining the flow of goods and services both domestically and internationally, while also reducing costs across industries.

The paper also highlighted the Ministry’s prominent participation in the Qatar Boat Show, where it showcased a suite of digital maritime services through the “Darb” app. The platform allows citizens to submit requests around the clock, saving time and effort.

Among the services offered are small vessel registration, renewal, specification updates, replacement of lost documents, vessel deregistration, ownership history certificates, mortgage and release services, ownership transfers, and delivery of marine media cards via Qatar Post.

Al Raya argued that these services enhance quality and efficiency in the maritime sector, aligning with Qatar’s national strategy to leverage its coastal geography and position itself as a regional commercial hub.

The editorial described the Qatar Boat Show as a vital platform blending innovation with maritime heritage, offering companies and enthusiasts a chance to explore emerging technologies and future projects in navigation and logistics. It added that the sector is experiencing rapid growth and is central to Qatar’s sustainable economic development.

The show’s second edition saw record participation, drawing 505 regional and international brands, 85 exhibitors, and more than 65 luxury yachts from 25 countries.

Al Raya noted that the event grew by 25 percent compared to its inaugural edition, solidifying its status as the fastest-growing maritime exhibition in the region. Notably, over half of the exhibitors represented Qatari companies, underscoring the country’s rising stature in industry and innovation.
