Doha: Qatari newspaper Al-Raya has underscored the Qatar's sustained commitment to empowering young people, describing them as a key driver of national development and emphasizing that investing in people is the surest path to a sustainable future.
According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial, "Youth: The Cornerstone of Qatar's Development," published Saturday, the newspaper said Qatar recognized from an early stage the strategic importance of investing in young people, adopting comprehensive policies and strategies to empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate global change and contribute meaningfully to the country's sustainable development.
The editorial highlighted the State's integrated framework for supporting young people, citing continued investment in education and training, expanded opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, and broader participation in the economic, social, cultural and sporting spheres. It added that young Qataris have also been given greater opportunities to assume leadership positions and contribute to decision-making.
Al-Raya added that Qatar has established a network of general and specialized youth centers offering targeted programs to nurture talent, develop skills, and promote a culture of initiative and volunteerism, strengthening the role of young people as partners in development and drivers of the country's future.
The newspaper said the Qatar National Youth Policy embodies this strategic vision by seeking to meet the aspirations of younger generations and empower them to contribute to innovation, entrepreneurship and community development. It added that the policy is aligned with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), both of which place strong emphasis on developing human capital capable of driving the country's sustainable development.
In this context, the editorial noted that Qatar joins countries around the world on Saturday in observing World Population Day, marked annually on July 11 under the theme "Realizing the hopes and aspirations of young people - today and for the future." It said the occasion reaffirms the State's commitment to fostering an enabling environment that supports young people's ambitions and strengthens their role in building a cohesive society and a thriving economy.
The newspaper concluded that the occasion also reflects Qatar's commitment to advancing population policies that support families, enhance quality of life, and expand opportunities for young people to realize their aspirations while contributing to a more prosperous and sustainable future.
