Al Raya Praises Turkish President’s Honor to Qatar for Its Role in Addressing Impact of 2023 Earthquake

Al Raya: Al Raya newspaper commended HE President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s honoring of the State of Qatar, along with other nations, that supported Turkiye in facing the aftermath of the Feb. 6, 2023 earthquake. The newspaper highlighted the Turkish President’s appreciation of Qatar’s unwavering support for Turkiye during the commemoration ceremony of the second anniversary of the earthquake in Adiyaman province.

According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial on Saturday titled “Qatar: a pillar of humanity,” the newspaper highlighted Qatar’s swift and substantial response to the disaster. From the earliest moments following the earthquake, Qatar was at the forefront of countries sending rescue teams and emergency aid, establishing a continuous air bridge to deliver supplies and assistance. The paper noted that Qatari charitable organizations were on the ground from the outset, providing crucial support to those affected.

Al Raya praised the Qatari people for their generous contributions to the “Support and Aid” campaign organized by the state to assist earthquake victims. The newspaper stated that Qataris donated wholeheartedly, demonstrating their solidarity with the people of Turkiye and Syria during their time of need.

The paper underscored that Qatar’s support was not driven by a desire for recognition but by a moral, humanitarian, and religious obligation to aid those in distress. It highlighted that Qatar has consistently been a reliable ally to those in need, regardless of their race, religion, or culture.

Al Raya concluded that Qatar’s aid has never been confined to specific countries or communities, as Qatar has always been among the first to extend a helping hand to the weak, the needy, and the afflicted, without any conditions or political motives.
