Al Rayyan Bolsters Defense with Diakite Signing on Long-Term Deal

Doha: Al Rayyan have signed defender Daouda Diakite from Al Shahaniya on a five-year contract, the club announced on Saturday.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Rayyan issued a statement on its official social media accounts confirming that the 22-year-old defender will stay with the club through the summer of 2031. The club extended a warm welcome to Diakite, expressing their hopes for his success in the upcoming seasons.

Diakite was a prominent figure for Al Shahaniya last season, making a name for himself with impressive performances throughout the 2025-26 campaign, which elevated him to one of the league's most notable players.

His transfer to Al Rayyan is strategically timed ahead of the 2026-27 season, which will kick off with a match against Iraq's Duhok in the Gulf Club Super Cup on August 13. This competition features the champions of the previous two editions.

In preparation for the new season, Al Rayyan have commenced fitness training sessions in Doha. The team plans to enhance their readiness with a preseason training camp in Spain, scheduled from July 15 to August 5.
