Algeria Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement in Gaza Strip

Algiers: Algeria voiced Thursday its satisfaction with the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Algerian Foreign Ministry stated that Algeria received with satisfaction the announcement of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. This agreement is seen as a critical step towards alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people and addressing the prolonged injustices they have faced under the Israeli occupation for over fifteen months.

The Ministry expressed Algeria’s appreciation for the efforts made by the mediators and emphasized the importance of implementing the agreement in all its aspects. This includes activating a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, removing restrictions on humanitarian relief efforts for the Palestinian people, and ensuring the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from Palestinian territories.

The ceasefire agreement was achieved through the collaborative mediation efforts of the State of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. The agreement, reached between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel, includes provisions for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners and hostages. The ceasefire is set to take effect next Sunday.
