Riyadh: The Sultanate of Oman has affirmed its position calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a halt to Israeli hostilities in Lebanon, stressing the need to conduct an independent international investigation into these repeated violations, as justice is the basis of peace, and accountability is the only way to end this ongoing suffering. Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said in a speech during the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit held in Riyadh, “Today we are witnessing a humanitarian crisis that has worsened in both Gaza and Lebanon as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression, where lives are being lost and innocent people are being deprived of the most basic rights of life.”
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Busaidi added that the scenes of bombing, destruction, and genocide that residential neighborhoods, health and educational facilities, and infrastructure are being subjected to exceed all standards of humanity, and call for joint action to open unrestricte
d corridors that enable the delivery of necessary relief.
He explained that the effects of this tragic situation in occupied Palestine and Lebanon have extended to include a dangerous escalation in other areas of the Middle East, threatening regional stability as a whole, noting that the only way to achieve stability in the region that everyone seeks can only be achieved through a comprehensive vision based on truth and justice.
Al Busaidi said that the Sultanate of Oman is steadfast in its support for the two-state solution as a fundamental way to achieve just peace, adding that the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is an inherent right of the Palestinian people that cannot be relinquished.
