Arab League Secretary General: Rejecting Presence of Occupation Forces in Philadelphi Corridor

Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of using accusations against Egypt as a smokescreen to justify extending the ongoing conflict for personal and political reasons.

Aboul Gheit reiterated Egypt’s firm opposition to any Israeli military presence in the Philadelphi Corridor, a stance backed by the Arab world. He stressed that this refusal stems from a determination to prevent any reimposition of occupation on the Gaza Strip. The Secretary-General warned that Israel’s current actions, particularly Netanyahu’s alleged falsehoods, jeopardize Egypt’s crucial role in the region.

He further asserted that Israel’s arguments lack credibility and that Netanyahu is deliberately obstructing a ceasefire. Aboul Gheit renewed his call for the international community to pressure Israel into reaching a ceasefire agreement without delay.
