Cairo: The Arab League on Thursday highlighted the significance of sustained support from donor countries, along with international and Arab organizations and funds, to assist the Gaza Strip in recuperating from the aftermath of the Israeli aggression. The League emphasized the need for collective efforts to expedite the reconstruction process.
According to Qatar News Agency, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, stated during a virtual meeting of the Arab Health Committee for Emergency Preparedness and Response that the League organized this crucial meeting in the context of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The session aimed to discuss and coordinate efforts among member states, United Nations agencies, and Arab and international organizations regarding the provision of humanitarian and medical aid, including essential medicines, to the health sector.
She noted that the recommendations issued by the Arab Health Committee for Emergency Preparedness and Response will be presented to the Council of Arab Health Ministers during its session scheduled in Geneva next May.
Abu Ghazaleh further mentioned that, as part of the Arab League's ongoing support for Gaza, a high-level delegation from the League's General Secretariat traveled to the Rafah border crossing last Saturday to oversee the delivery of humanitarian aid provided by the League. The initiative aims to address the challenging humanitarian conditions in Gaza and mitigate the consequences of the Israeli aggression. The delegation also visited wounded and injured Palestinians receiving treatment at Al-Arish Hospital.
