Doha: The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal', in collaboration with the Qatar Scientific Club, has successfully concluded the fifth edition of the "Future Engineer" programme, which took place from 4 to 23 July 2026, involving 40 male and female secondary school students.
According to Qatar News Agency, this year's programme builds on the success of previous editions and underscores Ashghal's dedication to nurturing national talent from an early age by offering a comprehensive educational experience. This experience blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, aiming to enhance participants' creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork capabilities while highlighting the critical role engineering plays in advancing Qatar's sustainable development.
Fatima Al Kubaisi, Head of External Relations Section at Ashghal, emphasized the programme's alignment with Ashghal's social responsibility goals. She stated that by providing students with direct exposure to engineering environments and introducing them to various engineering projects and disciplines, the programme broadens their perspectives, develops their skills, and assists them in making informed decisions about their future careers while contributing to Qatar's national development.
Ghanem Abdullah Al Kaabi, Head of Training and Administrative Development Section at Ashghal, reiterated the organization's commitment to supporting young talent. He highlighted the importance of empowering students with knowledge and practical experience, enabling them to explore a wide range of engineering fields, and helping them align their educational and career choices with the demands of the labor market and Qatar's development priorities.
Khawla Al Maadheed, Head of Public Relations and Communications at the Qatar Scientific Club, also remarked on the enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the participants, which contributed to making the programme a truly enriching experience with a lasting positive impact on their future academic and professional paths.
The programme concluded with a closing ceremony where participants showcased their final engineering projects to a specialized judging panel. Winning teams were announced, and all participants were honored, reaffirming the successful partnership between Ashghal and the Qatar Scientific Club in preparing a new generation equipped with knowledge, practical skills, and innovation to support the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
