Ashghal Launches Major Infrastructure Development in Izghawa and Al Thumaid

Izghawa:The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has announced the start of construction for a significant infrastructure project in Izghawa and Al Thumaid, with a budget of approximately QAR 418 million. This initiative is part of Ashghal's broader plan to enhance road and infrastructure networks to accommodate the area's urban and population growth.

According to Qatar News Agency, Project Engineer Eng. Tamader Al Mass stated that this second package is a critical phase in the comprehensive development of the area's roads and infrastructure. The project aims to provide integrated services to around 771 plots, including educational, commercial, and religious facilities, which will support ongoing population and urban expansion.

The project includes developing the road network and various infrastructural facilities to improve traffic flow and connectivity to major roads. It also focuses on enhancing traffic safety and implementing sustainable solutions to expand green spaces and maintain environmental quality.

Key components of the project involve the development of approximately 23 km of roads and 30 km of pedestrian and cycling paths. It also includes the installation of 589 street lighting poles and the creation of 2,730 parking spaces, alongside safety features like traffic signs and road markings.

Infrastructure works within the project comprise a 23 km rainwater drainage network and a 6 km treated sewage effluent network for irrigating green areas, covering 171,650 square meters. Additionally, there will be about 15 km of drainage networks.

The project area extends across approximately 600,000 square meters, bordered by Al Dawakhil Street to the east, National Day Ceremonial Road to the north, and Al Khor Road to the south. To minimize disruptions, construction will occur in three geographical zones, each receiving attention sequentially, with measures in place to maintain traffic flow.
