Ashghal Reassigns Delayed Infrastructure Projects to New Contractors

Doha:The Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' has announced the reallocation of eight delayed infrastructure projects to new contractors to prepare for the resumption of work. This decision follows the recommencement of work on 13 projects since April 2025.

According to Qatar News Agency, Ashghal's President, Eng. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Meer, along with senior leaders and officials, conducted field inspections of several roads and infrastructure projects to monitor their implementation and review the latest updates. The re-awarded projects aim to accelerate progress and enhance delivery efficiency.

The focus is on accelerating work to improve traffic flow and ease travel for residents, with continuous monitoring to ensure adherence to schedules. The inspections covered completion rates and remaining work, with an emphasis on opening roads to traffic and providing safe access to public facilities.

Eng. Khaled Al Khayareen, Director of Projects Affairs at Ashghal, noted that work is progressing rapidly, with the first package expected to be completed by Q3, 2027. The objective is to restart and accelerate implementation through updated programmes and continuous monitoring.

The 13 projects resumed since April 2025 serve over 11,500 plots in various areas, including Doha City. The eight newly reassigned projects, serving approximately 6,360 residential plots, include developments in Al Kharaitiyat, Izghawa, Al Kheesa, and other regions. These projects also involve significant sewer and pipeline construction aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and quality of life.

The projects will improve road networks, enhance connections to vital facilities, and ensure road safety. Additionally, they include the development of sewage, stormwater drainage, and treated sewage effluent networks to better prepare areas for the rainy season.
