Doha: At least 12 people were killed in an armed attack in northwestern Nigeria, authorities said on Monday. Local sources reported that the attackers stormed Lajinge village in Sokoto State, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals, injuries to four others, and the abduction of several women and children. Six members of the same family were burned to death when their home was set ablaze by the attackers.
According to Qatar News Agency, Nigerian police have launched an investigation into the attack and stated that the findings will be released at a later date. This violent incident occurred only a week after armed groups killed at least 24 farmers in the neighboring Zamfara State.
Armed criminal gangs have been active for years in northern and central Nigeria, engaging in kidnappings for ransom, cattle rustling, and deadly assaults on villages. These continuous attacks have raised concerns about the security situation in the region.
