Atletico Madrid Sign Spanish Defender Alejandro Grimaldo on Four-Year Deal

Doha: Atletico Madrid announced on Tuesday the signing of Spanish defender Alejandro Grimaldo on a four-year contract through the summer of 2030, following his transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Qatar News Agency, the club said in a statement published on its official website that the 30-year-old would provide a significant boost to the squad, citing his ability to play in defense as well as on both the right and left flanks. The club added that the signing aligns with the coaching staff's vision for the team.

Grimaldo is currently in the United States with the Spain national football team, which is competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Atletico Madrid finished the 2025-26 La Liga season in fourth place and were eliminated in the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League.
