Al Khor: The General Directorate of Endowments of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs is hosting an Iftar tent in Al Khor city, which welcomes a remarkable number of fasting individuals during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to Qatar News Agency, approximately 1,200 fasting individuals are benefiting from these tents daily, amounting to a total of 36,000 beneficiaries over the entire month. Awqaf emphasized in a Sunday statement that the “Iftar for the Fasting Persons” project is one of its key initiatives, aimed at supporting fasting individuals and promoting social interdependence. The ministry reported that 300,000 meals have been distributed at various sites throughout Ramadan, with a dedicated committee ensuring the provision of integrated meals that meet the highest quality standards in comfortable, air-conditioned settings.
Awqaf further noted that the project creates an organized environment for the smooth distribution of meals, ensuring that fasting individuals experience a secure and pleasant atmosphere. The statement highlighted that the project reflects noble Islamic values by assisting those in need and easing the burdens of meal preparation during Ramadan, thereby embodying a spirit of generosity and compassion within the community.
In addition to meal distribution, the initiative includes awareness programs aimed at educating workers about their religious responsibilities and promoting authentic Islamic values. Religious lectures, conducted by knowledgeable preachers from the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, aim to enhance the workers’ understanding of the virtues of fasting, the significance of engaging with the Holy Qur’an, and the importance of prayer and social cooperation.
These lectures occur several days a week, lasting one hour before Iftar and concluding ten minutes before the meal. The sessions address essential themes such as the virtues of Ramadan, the importance of fasting, the observance of timely prayers, the performance of congregational prayers, adherence to monotheism and correct Islamic beliefs, the pursuit of excellence in work as an act of worship, and the strengthening of social solidarity through helping those in need.
