Doha: The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of the Holy Quran and its Sciences within the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance, has launched an initiative called Parent Follow-up Day to bolster integration between the family and Quranic education centers and support the role of parents in the educational process of their children.
According to Qatar News Agency, an Awqaf statement on Sunday highlighted that the initiative designates every Sunday of the month for parents to attend and check on their children at Quranic centers across the country. Fahad Ahmed Al Mohammed, Head of Awqaf's Department of the Holy Quran and its Sciences, stated that the initiative follows directives from HE Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem to enhance cooperation between homes and centers, thus contributing to achieving educational objectives.
He further noted that parental attendance at these centers supports students, as periodic attendance advances the educational process and fosters effective engagement among all parties involved. The first visit on August 3, 2025, saw participation from 1,262 parents across 149 Quranic centers nationwide. The event included individual sessions with teachers, field trips, and the formation of communication groups via WhatsApp to monitor memorization and revision progress of the Holy Qur'an.
Several parents expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it encourages students' commitment to memorization sessions and aids in building balanced characters. Student participants confirmed that parental attendance motivates them and enhances their commitment to these classes, while center heads praised the initiative for its positive impact on students and educational staff.
Awqaf continues to support Quranic education centers for both genders throughout the nation by implementing educational plans and supervising teacher performance. This includes holding Quranic activities aimed at graduating a generation that memorizes the Holy Qur'an and adheres to Islamic precepts, thereby contributing to a community that upholds Islamic values, faith, and identity.
