Behavioral Healthcare Center Hosts ‘Beyond the Screen’ Event for Children’s Digital Safety

Doha: The Behavioral Healthcare Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, organized an interactive awareness event titled "Beyond the Screen" during its celebration of Universal Children's Day, observed annually on November 20th. The event aimed to raise awareness about the safe use of smart screens among children.

According to Qatar News Agency, Andalus Ibrahim, the event coordinator at the center, explained that the initiative was part of the center's efforts to promote behavioral awareness through a blend of traditional and modern methods. She highlighted the importance of educating children on correct and safe practices due to their prevalent use of smart screens.

Ibrahim revealed that the event featured the launch of a new awareness product: a story titled "Beyond the Screen." The narrative is designed to impart positive behavioral messages regarding the responsible use of technology. Alongside the story, a virtual reality headset was introduced to allow children to watch a film inspired by the story's events, fostering interactive learning and beneficial use of technology.

Moreover, Ibrahim emphasized the versatility of virtual reality headsets, which can display any educational content intended for children. She underscored the significance of parental involvement in this experience. "We encourage parents to enter their children's world, engage with them, and share the content they watch. We need to be close to them so they can be in a safe environment that keeps pace with technological advancements in a positive way," she stated.

She also urged parents to devote quality time to their children, participate in their hobbies and interests, and stay informed about the developments they are experiencing. Ibrahim stressed that the quality of time spent with children is more valuable than its quantity.
