Beirut Arab International Book Fair Kicks Off with 163 Publishers

Beirut:The 67th Beirut Arab International Book Fair commenced in the Lebanese capital, featuring 163 local and Arab publishing houses. The event is set to run until October 18 and includes a diverse range of literary, intellectual, and cultural activities.

According to Qatar News Agency, the fair is organized by the Arab Cultural Club in cooperation with the Syndicate of Publishers Union in Lebanon. It boasts a program of approximately 90 cultural events, including 61 panel discussions, nine lectures, and various meetings, poetry and music evenings, tribute events, and 10 activities specifically for children.

The fair covers a wide array of topics such as literature, novels, poetry, history, politics, economics, and artificial intelligence. Writers, researchers, and intellectuals from Lebanon and other Arab nations are participating in the event.

Daily book-signing sessions will introduce new publications, while children can engage in drawing workshops, storytelling sessions, and educational activities. Additionally, the program features events honoring notable literary and intellectual figures.

The Beirut Arab International Book Fair was first launched by the Arab Cultural Club in 1956 at the American University of Beirut’s West Hall and has been held at various venues over the years. Since 2004, it has taken place on Beirut's waterfront.
