Cabinet Approves Draft Laws and MoUs in Weekly Meeting

Doha: HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held on Wednesday afternoon at the Amiri Diwan.

According to Qatar News Agency, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi announced that the Cabinet had reviewed and approved several key topics on its agenda. This included a draft law on measurement, intended to replace Law No. 21 of 1972, to update the regulations governing measurement and align with advancements in metrology. The new draft law aims to define the authorities responsible for measurement accreditation, ensuring consumer protection, and promoting fair competition.

The Cabinet also approved a draft decision to amend the organization of some administrative units within the Ministry of Municipality. This decision is part of the ministry's strategy to enhance institutional performance, encourage digital transformation, and improve the quality of government services.

Additionally, the Cabinet agreed to a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, focusing on political consultations on mutual interests. Another approved MoU involves cooperation between the Public Prosecution of Qatar and the Public Prosecution of Egypt.

The meeting concluded with the Cabinet reviewing two reports and deciding on the appropriate measures. These included a report on participation in the second session of the Qatari-Uzbek Joint Committee for Economic, Trade, and Technical Cooperation held in Tashkent in October 2025, and a report on involvement in the 41st session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Countries, held in Istanbul in November 2025.
